It's a New Year, What's in A Word, and All that Jazz.

For my first blog post of the new year I'm stealing the first few paragraphs from my other blog from the ARTsy side of Saidfraz. So, if you read both please excuse the repeat. (Reading both? Haha, who am I kidding??)

From my desk to yours, Happy New Year! Many people start out the new year make resolutions for the coming year. Others like to pick a word that they will focus on in the next twelve months. In the past I've sorta poo-pooed the idea of New Year's resolutions, mostly because I am afraid of committing to something that I know I might have trouble seeing through. Having a word to focus on should be different though because it's not something I can succeed or fail at. It's simply providing myself with a focus for my thoughts and ideas, and hopefully bringing positive actions into my life.

Choosing my "word" for 2014 has been difficult. At times I find myself over-thinking everything which can really be frustrating. So, after several weeks of tossing words around in my head, today I finally made a choice. I'm going to have two words!

My words for 2014 are COLOR and CHANGE. The first word COLOR picked itself for me. I love everything about "color" and look forward to spending a lot of time filling my head (and everything that comes out of it) with colors. On the other hand, picking the second word was soooo hard. One word kept coming to me but I kept rejecting it. The word - CHANGE - is like a thorn in my side. I have such a hard time accepting change and in many cases will go out of my way to avoid it. I didn't want to consider CHANGE but my heart and head kept bringing it back up. Finally I decided to just give in and go with it. We can only hope that by the end of the year I will be able to successfully say that I now have a love relationship with the word CHANGE and everything that comes along with it.

Now here's where the two blogs part way

I've been woefully negligent when it comes to posting here on From the S in SAIDFRAZ. I started blogging in 2010 and there was actually only one year (2011) where I had any amount of consistency to my writing. Last year was truly dismal but this year I'm determined to CHANGE it.  (Yes, I know I've said it before but this time I really mean it ... I have to since my focus word is CHANGE. Right?)

I do have my other blog (linked above) that saw more action in 2013. That's because it's my crafty-artsy-fartsy blog about what all I'm doing creatively and 2013 was the year of the rebirth of my art muse.

Hopefully this year I can make some CHANGE and learn to balance the two. Cross your fingers and toes, say a prayer, and send positive thoughts that I can succeed. I need all the help I can get.

I'll leave you for now with some adorable cuteness,
Miss Sassy Pants failing at trying to stay awake
some yummy goodness,
a pot of homemade vegetable soup for a cold, wet January day
and a splash of color from my studio
New Year's Day prints
Please note - my scraproom no longer exists. I haven't actually done any scrapbooking in several years but the room has continued to be referred to as The Scraproom. I'm getting all hoity-toity now and have christened it my Art Studio. This means I have to get down and be serious about creating works of art - even if I'm the only one who sees it as such! Nothing like putting pressure on oneself, huh?
